I was kicking around, checking out the different servers. I kept seeing one labeled "Cheesy Sci-Fi" and thought I'd check it out. I used Google to find the website, made a little Fairy and was INSTANTLY hooked!
The first contact I had with Matt was to ask him on the boards if it was possible for a player to start a guild. We exchanged PM's and Figment Central was born! I got the idea for it when someone (I forget exactly who, sorry, whoever) remarked that they had never seen a Fairy before.
I've been on this server ever since.
Tell us about your first experiences here. I know *I'd* LOVE to hear about them!
See you IG! ;D

Saw the cheesy Sci-fi tag and hopped in. read all the info in the data chips then went and did Chela's basement.
Spent some time wondering around all edgy, looking for the gribbly monsters, Expecting kobloids or something. Then saw the penguins and broke out laugthing.

Wow: That was a long time ago now... Well, I had just gone through yet another mysterious server dissapearance, and saw 'Cheesy Sci-Fi'. Needless to say, I had to check it out. So I made a joking test char, but upon reading the supplemental materials, I decided to make a real character, modelled after 'The Major' (Points for iding source.) Wandered around alot, made a whole lot of annoying suggestions on those old terrible boards. (They ate my old character bio for Joanna ). I still remember when the inner eye snipers had bolts casting dc26 sleep/stun/dispel on hit. *chuckles* And this was back before starting packages were implemented, so subrace chars had it tough starting... Many, many hours, days, weeks, months later here we are. Itropa has become a moderately flourishing server, considering the twilight stage of NWN 1...

Yep - Sci Fi Tag did it for me. I was experimenting with NWN after finishing both KOTOR games, and wanted something not so fantasy. I chose the name Treya Mai as a play on the name Maitreya and went from there.

Looking for a different server, actually. Speaking of which, that one's going to be coming back online before too long, hopefully. Sadly, its last incarnation got Ritaised, I think, but they're working on it. And maybe the .1% is the effect of random chance...

A long time ago, I played on a server that had a big following. They reincarnated and I made lots of friends. Sometime after the reincarnation some of the friends I knew were going to make a "sister" server and wanted me on board as a dm. Play original; DM new. Sounded great. Was lots of fun......well, for a few weeks. Turns out I was NOT aware that there were some people that were VERY upset about the "sister" server. Lots of people creating toons just to create havoc, boards spammed with insults. And later I learned my friends had retaliated in kind . Well, the server I dm'd on went bye bye. and I was a lil' disenchanted with the server I played on ( they also had just changed some other stuff so my primary toon had an illegal background {he was from the land of fate} ) So I 'splored around. the first place I found was Sigil. As I was a Megafan o' Planescape, I was so very excited. Gosh though, it turned out to be really empty. And so much was only half made. Like a pretty present under the Xmass tree with an IOU inside *frowns* So I saw Itropa... NICE it thought... and added it to my faves But then horror of horrors happened Lineage2 I got in on the boxbeta. I became addicted to pay2play LineageII. ugh. It was bad. Very very very bad. I finally unistalled it. It seems with NWN I can play and have fun and Keep my job and pay my bills and not loose friends and fam * smiles* ( I know way too much info.. just skim past like most peeps do... no worries ) So I looked in my history, Lo and behold... there was this scifi thing... I loaded up my toon...and restarted...and laughed so much in trasa Seemed there were improvements since my last visit, too. So I made a beautiful mutant and met my first friend on server. I washooked....but in a good way * grins* So, I washappy. wasgreg washappy

like so many others here... i played on a server that disapeared.... and i too became disenfranchised with the whole Dm/politics thing that shows up so often when people take a server toooo seriously...
a friend... from that other server told me about this one.... and so i searched it out... tried it.. and fell in love with the lightheartedness of it all...
i still get into the char. development with backstories and all that... but then again its also good to get away from that and go penguin bashing or some sort on occasion...

Exactly what happened to me... I played on one for a year, was disappointed by the admin politics, went searching for another "perfect" server, couldn't find one... so I built one

yes and we thank you for giving up your life to do it.
The biggest question I have is where did you start? Trasa? and I'm willing to bet that hells fury was one of the first quests you did?

Heh, I still have one of the earliest builds of the mod backed up on CD. I should really load it up sometime instead of the current mod, it would really freak people out.
Anyway, before I even started, I had planned the seven major cities: Trasa, Grunthar, Caoerovia, Kora, Mil, Alta, and Valos. And a very basic map of where those cities would lie. Trasa was the first city I set down, next was Grunthar (and the road to it), then Koramil (and the road to it), then Kora and Mil, then Alta. After that I lose track.
The first "Dungeon" was Chela's basement, then the BotCo Factory, then the Inner Eye cave. (I think). The Hell's Fury quest was also very early on - Madeline Starkraven was one of my characters on another server. I always loved the character, but I couldn't stand actually playing her... so I honored her by making her an NPC here.
Trasa was originally called Kaural. When I changed it, I was afraid there still might be some references to the word "Kaural" scattered around, so I made the word "Kaural" part of the town's history. Originally I had transport operators instead of computers at each teleporter. The sign for "Andrik's Teleportation Station" stayed up long after I retired him.
The most significant event in Itropa history was when I had a major hard drive failure, and lost two month's work of work (check the very first entry under "mod updates"). I now make backups more regularly. I was so distraught that I didn't work in the toolset again for months. I completely lost Isla Morpha and Arachna Island, and had to remake them from scratch.
There's one quest I never got around to remaking: At the Pleasure Palace, if you were to try to "consort" with a prostitute, she would knock you out, and you would wake up in the basement. Turns out that's how they get their employees, by kidnapping the more attactive customers and forcing them to work there. So you had to escape the Palace's basement while fighting an assortment of pimps, thugs, and ladies-of-the-evening. The basement area still exists, as do the enemies... apparently I had backed up the mod while the quest was half-done.
By the way, the hard drive failure may have been caused by the NWN toolset itself.

There are some areas I have wondered about, the basement to the pleasure palace was one of them. Another has been the ABSOLUTELY ADULT ONLY area with the quiet baths. I think every door there double checks your adult pass. Can players get to that area even? Oh. and if this is a spoiler PLEASE delete ASAP.
