I have been considering for a while trying to extend Itropa beyond Charta, today I finally decided to ask Matt if it was ok to have a go. With his permission I have began merging Itropa into another persistent world called ACME Vamp Vs WWolves, which despite it's name is not a PVP centered world (At least from what I saw of it, talk to SoD for more details).
Please not this is a huge task, and so will probably not be finished for a few months at the very least, though I hope to have it running in parallel to Itropa within a few days.
Now onto the real purpose of this post, the ACME module has a number of differences, chief among these is a food, drink and rest script. This script makes it so that your character has % for each of these categories, a heart beat script reduces the percentages based on in game time. This means your character would have to eat, drink and sleep in order to prevent negative modifies and ultimately death if the percentage goes far enough into minus figures. Food and water can be bought to prevent this.
The script is set so that every 3 real life mins rest decreases by 5, food by 2 and water by 4, this means from a state of 100% it would take 1 hour for rest to decrease to a point at which you receive negative penalties, 2 1/2 hours for food and 1 hour for water. also in its current state characters with more than 20 levels in a caster class have to wait 3 mins between rests, other classes are unaffected, this part is separate to the main script and can be change very easily so that there are no rest restrictions.
Thus the question is, should this script be scrapped, changed or kept?
I can also put up the unedited ACME module if people want to see for temselves.

I actualy remember playing that mod it was fun and I'd like to play it again but it doesn't fit the itropa world at all. There two completly different game types. If you wan't to add to itropa add another continet that is mentioned but doesn't exist game wise.

In the FAQ Exotera is described as "the farthest continent from Charta, and the only civilized nation not to be involved in the World War. It still stands today, but due to its distance, very few citizens of Exotera have immigrated to Charta. The citizens of Exotera are very traditional, and have little use for technology. The few Exoterans to settle in other countries usually do so out of the pursuit for knowledge and enlightenment."
so little or now sign of botco products etc. things that are described in Exotera as magic, would be simple technology in charta. The werewolves references would be changed so that the correspond to primals etc

That might work though you'd need to add weaknesses to current races to items or some other such thing to make it balanced with the races from that mod. As for food I say take it out. All it does is make you take up pointless space due to only needing once an hour or so.

So you'd just be using the mod for the land? If so make it so you can start there or start the normal reasons, i.e. make a small room that can send you to one of two places. The first is the current starting area and the second the other continet with it's own starting area.

Doesn't make sense for you to go throught technology to get to a place without it.

If you're looking for adventure where are you more likely to find harder challenges?

I picked, "scrapped."
As I've stated on several other threads, I hate having limitations set on my chars. That's why I started playing Itropa in the first place.
Matt has stated many times that Itropa is not for rules lawyers; it is a laid back server designed to have fun.
Imposing rest, eat, drink, and other limitations starts to move into the realm of "rules lawyering," and that removes some of the fun for me. Think about it for a sec.
You can't use "The Weapon of Kill Everything In Sight" until you reach level 40. You can't wear a certain type of gloves until you reach level 21. That's a form of rules lawyering.
In Itropa, as long as you can afford it, you can use it.
*I* can sit down and rest whenever the heck I feel like it, why can't my char?
If *I* can afford a .50 caliber rifle and use it, why can't my char?
*I* drink when I'm thirsty, eat when I'm hungry, and rest when I feel like it. Why shouldn't my char be able to do those exact things? *I'm* not forced to do any of those things at any particular time.
My character on the VvW server is a werewolf. Every now and then, the server info screen tells me that "The urge to kill is growing." *I* get urges to punch things, I control them.
When I play that game, I feel almost like I have no control over my char.

Well, it's looking like it's decided, I'll disable it.

Score one for Steph. Though one thing I wouldn't mind if you kept the VvW drow instead of the itropa one if it's not over powered. No offense to Matt but his was done just so that it was there like the vampire and brownies.
