Welcome to Figment Central!
We are pleased that you decided to join the ranks of the Fairy Elite.
The Charta New-Planet Dictionary defines “figment” as “a thought or wish brought to life.”
Some consider a Figment to be a figment of their vivid imagination, a mere thought; others, a daydream, a fleeting glimpse, or “a mysterious twinkle at the edge of vision.” Whatever they believe, you are now their guardian angel.
When a Figment is assigned to become a guardian angel, he/she/it follows the “assignment” and lends any help necessary. This can be something as small as making a beer run, or as large as jumping into the middle of a fight with a pack of Bulletts.
In all cases, the “assignment’s” health and well-being is paramount. Secondary is your own self-preservation.
Figments are by no means slaves. We take our primary orders from Figment Central. An assignment can change at a moment’s notice. One minute you may be assigned to "Gwonja the PirateSlayer, and the next, you are assigned to Shalwen the Meek (Roleplay your assignment. There is no hard and fast rule. If you want to stick with your best bud throughout the whole thing, it’s up to you. If you want to switch assignments just because you want to, go right ahead. Do yourself a favor, though, and don’t decide in the middle of a losing battle.)
Figments can be any alignment and character base (a chaotic-evil half-orc, for example) and have many roles in today’s Charta. Some are Bards, some are Sorcerers. One of our founding members is a Barbarian!
Here are some suggestions (by no means consider this a “gotta-do-it-or-else” type of thing. They are just hints for character playing):
1. Barbarian-The toughest of the Fairies. Most Fairy Barbarians are former Charta Marines.
2. Bard-Their small size and fast movement makes them excellent scouts. A lot of these little folks are ex-special operatives with the Trasa Defense Force.
3. Cleric-The definition of a Fairy. They hang back and send healing properties toward their assignment. Most were medics and corps-people in the military.
4. Druid-Considered by many to be the “weirdest” Fairy around. They tend to slack-off, taking a lackadaisical attitude until the “stuff makes contact with the air-mover.”
5. Fighter-A lot of these Fairies were CyBoar-riders before they joined Figment Central. The CyBoar-gangs of Alta are a prime example (Heaven’s Devils, Hershel’s Hooligan’s, you get the idea.)
6. Monk-They generally sit out large conflicts, preferring to hone their martial skills to perfection and help clean up in the aftermath.
7. Paladin-They can be found hanging around the Cleric Fairies, usually trying to get into the Clerics' bodysuits.
8. Ranger-Some of these guys were recon specialists in the military. They, too, make great scouts.
9. Rogue-Not many of these types become Fairies. They usually wind up stealing more stuff than they can carry (armor is HEAVY).
10. Sorcerer-Most sorcerers are of evil alignment and love nothing more than to cause pain and death. They are considered by other Fairies to be “anti-Fairies.”
ALL Figments are trustworthy ( at least toward their assignment), loyal, and brave in the face of danger.
ALL Figments can tell a person’s name just by looking at him (how can you find your assignment if you don’t know their name?).
As a Figment, you can instantly tell if a member of your party is wounded or sick.
That’s as far our mind powers go, however. We’re not in the business of mental manipulation of our clients (don’t cast Charm Person or Animal on a member of your own party).
As a Figment, you even get special equipment! Non-figments have to deal with those bulky Fairy-sized communicators AND an additional GPS nav-system. As a Figment, you get a FREE FC-872 CommNav system in a single unit that fits inside your ear!
If any assignment berates you for be being late on arrival, please explain that our backlog is currently over 3 years. If they still hassle you, report them immediately to Figment Central (We really don't care, but it makes for good fun).
