A subject only very occasionally touched upon in only the most esoteric of robotic colleges is the Aeia Web - a theoretical kind of second dimension, or eternal, biological program - that which records what the world is - or possibly tells the world what to be. If the Aeia Web does exist, it would explain many psychic powers, 'magic' and other such things - and if an intelligence could be built INTO the web, anything could be possible.
Toward the end of the Marae wars, a group of Marae bio-scientists began testing out this theory - if they could successfully build a construct into the web, they would have a superweapon that could retake Charta within seconds. The project was named with a Marae character that can only be pronounced as 'R' in Itropan. It took them a decade to finalise a theory, and by that time, the wars were finally over and the first stones of Trasa had been placed. The scientists were ordered to terminate the project - but somebody terminated them first. The unfinished mess of functions and syntax that was R was stored into a kind of Marae datachip - a small, organic-looking sphere, and the murderers fled for the safety of one of the many islands scattering the seas around, but they were blown out of the water by an unknown ship. The chip was, to all intents and purposes, indestructable, and sank to the bottom of the sea. There it was found, many years later, by scientists, who believed it was naught but a useless relic. They stored it in their vaults, in the 'H' section. Until one day, it awoke...
Programming streamed out into the air, reforming the Aeia connection. The web changed slightly in one place, rippling and bending until... a Marae stood there. A transparent Marae, easily mistaken for a hologram... and it knew itself as H.
