Disclaimer: How strict we should be? What rules should be changed? Do we need any new rules? Important - the outcome of these polls will NOT necessarily result in actual policy changes. I just want to see how players feel about certain rules. And if there's any new rules you think we should implement, or any current rules that deserve scrutiny, feel free to post your own poll.
Pickpocket I don't think this one needs an explanation...

PP for RP purposes is fine, but give valuable items back immediately you successfully PP them and RP they're still gone in case either party crashes or loses their connection and the item goes missing or forgotten before the parties meet again...this requires a little discipline on the part of the one being pickpocketed in that they shouldn't shout out "hey, I've been robbed" 5 seconds after the 'thief' gives them their stuff back...it also means that they DON'T KNOW who took it...I'd suggest taking the item and dropping it on the ground then having a DM tell the player where it was but I've seen some very valuable items lost to unexpected server crashes...the best way is for a DM to take the item from the 'thief' and give it back to the 'target', but that only works if one's on and can spare the time....that saves a lot of trouble though and gives the DM a chance to watch some potentially good RP.
losing a few gold or a potion or two to a PP is acceptable to me, as long as it's not a 1st level char's last healing potion or heal kit, or their only weapon or armour...or a 9th level scroll or expensive ring...use a bit of judgement, if you wouldn't like to lose it then the RP probably isn't worth keeping it and nobody likes a REAL thief
The biggest problem with NWN PP is that it's really a blind fishing expedition, you're not cutting a purse or lifting a wallet or anything a pickpocket would go after, you get whatever the game gives you and it can give you some pretty ludicrous things...I don't think anything bigger than a 2 slot item should be pickpocketable, maybe a weapon up to a longsword if it was on their hip, but not a suit of heavy armour or a two-handed weapon...I think anyone'd notice that leaving.

Yes, role-play it.
IF you get a large/valuable/personal/custom item, give it back. Then the person you return it to should be grateful, and not do some silly ooc retaliatory thing.
Don't pp in towns... Don't spam pickpocket. Don't abuse it, or you'll be found out, and punished for griefing. Simple enough.. no?

If Homeless picks someone's pocket, I *ALWAYS* offer it back immediately. I picked one PC's pocket, got 27gp and offered it back. I've gotten some REALLY cool stuff, but always give it back if the victim wants.
I suggest using tells BEFORE the actual PP.
EDIT: And spam PP is just MEAN without consent.

Okay.. I figure that if a thief succeeds at a PP, they should get "a DM token" for their troubles... since they've got to give it back... althought for RP purposes, if you want it more realistic, then the victem doesn't get it back.. let me clarify. Thief /t Victem: Can I PP your character? Victem: Sure. Thief: anything in particular I can take and keep? Victem: Yeah.. umm.. I have a few Fairy Flowers and Cells you can nab. Thief: cool thanks Victem: No problem Of course IC, the Vic will be like "OMG! SOMEONE ROBBED ME!!" though not right away.. maybe later.. like at least 15 min.

Mkes no sense to give a token every time someone 'returns' a stolen item. It's part of the courtesy which should be present among the players in this community. Spamming pickpocket, and/or not offering back (valuable, personal, custom, etc) stolen items is in poor taste, and liable to have unpleasant ic and/or ooc repercusions. As mentioned in this thread, tokens aren't quite so easy to get. Mainly used a a reward for exemplary rp/service to the mod (ie: Reporting a game-breaking exploit, and not using it/telling other players about it)

Is there a way to set what a thief can steal with the PP ability? For instance, the value of the item obtained being limited to how many points the thief has in PP? Or limit the skills value by city? Or it is disabled in the cities, but not elsewhere. Or, if everyone has a problem with it, just disable it entirely.
