Things aren't looking too rosy for our brave, fat hero in blue armor. Do you guys wanna make this a full-blown event or should we just handle it "within the system"?
If you want to make it an event, we'll set it up. Otherwise, Jourgen will have to tell people about his downfall.
We'll need a judge (Peacemaker, are you up for it?), a defense attorney (the one on Jourgen's side), and a prosecutor (the one who sides with the CBI).
The Trasa Citizen will have a special issue addressing this issue sometime in the future. As usual, I can only run events on Tues and Weds.
Please post below if you want to be on the court. It's first come, first served.

I like the idea of making it an event. Players can be witnesses, etc. Why limit which players can be involved in RP?
Just make sure that the outcome isn't pre-decided. The judge (or jury, as the case may be) should make his decision NOT on OOC-info, but on the believability of the testimony and evidence.

Sure thing. THe defense can call character witnesses, the prosecution can call eye witnesses, watch a few shows of Law and Order, Judging Amy, virtually any show dealing with courtrooms. Even Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown and the People's Court are viable.
Just keep in mind that the laws of Itropa can be different from the laws of planet earth. After all, there ARE different physical laws, why not judicial laws as well?
Any arm-chair lawyers or law students out there?

Peacemaker could be up for it. Of course this is fully dependant on my schedule, since I don't work a specific time.

Well, barring my writing an entire legal book for Trasa (not bloody likely), we have to base the laws on SOMETHING, or the lawyers will have free reign to just pull precedents out of their arse.

"Lotto and Legal Books" welcome to Trasa... Couldn't it just be a trial by bot? The cold, dark, all metal tables, chairs, walls, and rails. If found innocent, life in the bot factory as a janitor, death by crushing/smelting if guilty... Could also play 'Old Maid' defendant and lawyers all play, who ever looses gets executed! Those who hate lawyers would love that one...

Well, the precident I had for Peacemaker, basically is as an adjudicator. He has a licence in each of the city states of Charta to adjudicate disputes. What this means is that both parties agree to abide by the decision of the adjudicator, who is empowered to make his decision based on local laws as well as evidence at hand. Wesson Smith would do this to the best of his ability. Of course, characters can lie when they present evidence, but there would have to be OOC tells to determine what evidence is REALLY there and what the adjudicator would actually know.
Sentencing can be creative for an adjudicator, and the punishment should fit the crime. Of course, that is something that can be worked out with other players.
Just my thoughts on how a player run legal system could work.

Or we could do like the Running Man.... This isn't a death penalty case.... Besides, if he wins, we're NOT letting him live at The Resort. The water'd get all yukky and stuff. He'd eat all the food and soak up all the sun. ;D
