This poll assumes that the thief has confessed and apologized in a big way. Number 2 lets the player log back into the game, just under a different account name. You folks know me and the way I operate. Once a problem is resolved, that's the end of it (for me). I never bring it up again. Until then, though, I can be merciless.... EDIT: The poll for player punishment IS NOT necessarily the ruling of the "DM Court." It is for general opinions ONLY to see how our regulars would punish you. AS ALWAYS, the final decision is Matt's, but if you come to me FIRST, it probably won't get as far as Matt.

It's not listed as a choice, but there is a jailing system in the mod. If I put a certain icon in their inventory, that character is stuck in a jail cell. Permanently, unless they can convince me they have repented. That, combined with loss of all the stolen items, seems a fitting punishment to me. By the way, the choice "All of the player characters are wiped out." ...seems a bit harsh to me. How about just, all of their player characters wiped out?

Completely banning the guy seems a little bit harsh to me. I think they still deserve something "fairly" harsh, just not *that* harsh. I think it'd probably be best if the account name is banned, so that the player can start again fresh with a different name, obviously without his/her characters, but still able to play on the server. Of course, if they re-offend I think a full scale lynching is in order

I had several worse punishments in mind. Eternal Damnation to Cheater's Hell was one of them.

Like the laws of Hammurabi, cut off that which offends. The rules are known by all, this occurence was a disregard of stated rules. First offense, jail and a warning. I agree with Haz, but is still voted for #2.

I added in a 'c' because I am weird that way.
I am abstaining.
My vote is for a harsh penalty.

Looking at this poll in the morning, I voted for the second option. Now that it's later, I feel strangely guilty about it. I know people MUST, MUST, MUST read the rules, but I still feel bad about completely ostracizing a player for breaking one. I guess what I'm saying is that maybe the penalty should depend on how appologetic the person is. This whole quasi-contraversy is sure to engrave some sort of lesson into them, maybe we can just have them use the cash to buy some newer players some shiny armor, and then throroughly reprimand him/her when they're through.
When that's through, I doubt they're likely to offend again, but if they do, I think the uber-harsh punishments shouldn't be spared. Whoever did it, you better "keep your nose clean"(I LOVE using that line with CBI chars!)
