I hate restricting any skill/spell/feat. People pay $40 for a game, they should get all the game's content. Some people might build their character specifically for something (it's not easy qualifying for dev crit), before realizing they can't use it. I'd rather just make some particular enemies immune to certain things. Which is also why I haven't outright disabled the pickpocket skill, despite our current issues with it.
Heh, in my case, I've spent more than $150 on this game (two copies, bought when expansions were sold seperately, plus 4 strategy guides). But I'd say it's worth it, since I've played it much longer than most games I buy.

Indeed.
Once the 'nerf' train starts rolling, it doesn't miss any stops.
Then spells start being modified, some classes require dm approval, etc. Not a good road to go down.
Again though, I'd say items are the main cause of disruption to the balance in Itropa. (Yes, you can make a half-orc rdd and get dev crit with your scimitar early epic, but then [in theory] you'd have to play that character, rping it and such as a mutated grunthian, or something. . .)
I too have spent a large sum on this game (Also two copies, when Ex-packs were seperate) but it's been well-worth it. Perhaps the best recent purchase game-wise I've made.

There might even be a feature along the lines of "Do you wish to upgrade your current mod to NWN 2? Click yes to proceed." This is exactly what i was hoping to see! I am uber-broke, and cannot afford to buy another version of a game i already have, but i LOVE your server! Also, when the conversion happens, what will happen to all of the pre-existing PCs? It sounds like you are planning to ditch them in favor of 'starting over'. What about letting all of the old-timers bring over 1d3 PCs, or limiting the items etc they transfer over?

Different ruleset, different feats, not to mention Matt wants to rebalance the game. Starting over is best, and even if it wasn't, you won't be able to import NWN1 characters anyway.

Well, what about giving transfer players a set number of xp to make the switch? Kinda like how you offer 'packages' now, only worth more levels? Or just give extra feats, or other nachos. Or let people build the new version of thier old PC up, then subject it to DM scrutiny/approval before it enters play.
Also, will it be possible for PCs to set up a business in play? What about guilds? Or something as simple as a PC house? I know it is POSSIBLE, (several other servers have all of these options) but how much extra work is it for you guys? Is it worth it? I personally will most likely NEVER be able to 'afford' it, but it would add a dimension to the server not currently seen. What about more adventure quests? Do you guys accept submissions?

1) Before we see what we can put into Itropa lets see what we can do with nwn 2.... -I agree. Also, i would see if it is possible to aquire a more 'futuristic' tileset. The current one still 'feels' very D&D-ish. 2) id also say cut down on the number of resets the server goes through.... it would cut down on the amount of Farming that goes on. -which would help to enhance game balance overall, since there would be fewer PCs tha qualify for the uber-cool stuff. 3) ive noticed that some of the monsters leading up to the bosses are pretty much a cake walk... maybe make them progressively tougher as you near the boss? -AMEN, brother! 4) something else i would do is with the merchants.... make it so that their buy back cap is right around the same price as the most expensive thing they sell. -This sounds good in theory. The main issue i see here is that it might segregate the board. Most of the lower-level PCs will hang out in the easier sections and all of the higher ones will be where the money is more favorable. On a larger more populated board i would be all in favor of this, but it is already hard enough to get a proper parttyy together, no need to make it worse!

We have this now. The CBI, The Supply Store & The PFA (pretty much defunct) are some of the "guilds" started by players. Several players have apartments. If you search the board a little, you will find the rules for apts/houses.

This really interests me. I mean REALLY. I bought NWN simply because it was like KOTOR, but more easily moddable. My interest in games lay mainly in how easily they can be modded. _I am also the same way. I do not have the computer kung-fu for scripting...etc. but i love the games that make it possible to do. Every server is diferent, even the ones that are similar in concept. As for the mod itself, I would like to see it similar to what we have now, but toned down. Especially in the XP department. The Ravenloft server has a neat code where XP is derived from RP as well as combat, and you cannot even see the XP you have or gain until you level. Also the option to Party is gone as well, with instead XP being gained by being in proximity to the kill (so no kill stealing). Basically it would be nice to be able to casually adventure and not worry about being in a party with all level 40s, and knowing that its possible to be a low level character and actually have something to do. -Also, the Ravenloft server does not allow the 'examine' option to give any info other than the general health descriptor, and the PC-to-PC disposition. You never have any idea if the person you are addressing is stronger or weaker than you! (And yes, that does make a difference in how you treat someone.) I think this allows people to RP w/o the possibility of meta-gaming certain decisions, like whether to attack someone for being a mouthy-punk...etc. Balance factors. First of all, get rid of true seeing, immunity to sneak attack, immunity to critical (though maybe ok for some subraces), haste, and possibly time stop and greater sanctuary. Make magic items really rare, and perhaps even have DMs vote on custom content before it gets put into the game. As for custom content, perhaps allow designers to redesign some stuff before nerfing it. -YES! It would be nice to see the cities expanded on, with content added for roleplayability. If other players helped, it woud be interesting to let them develop certain areas, such as Grunthar, or Ynara, maybe using base maps as guidelines. I love things as they are, and would like to see it all revisited on a grander scale, at least quality wise if not quantity. I would rather have an extremely well developed Trasa, than a sparse world with many areas. -YES!

Here is something else i have thought about: Is it possible for a PC to take over a guild, and change its organizational 'alignment' from within? The pfa, or the inner eye, for example?

The Inner Eye is a server-run guild.
The PFA base has been taken over by a goody-goody women's club. Talk to Aszhra for more info on this, as she runs it now.

Well, for starters, in an ancient ruin hidden Krav-knows-where, a still fully functional and ready to use super-galactic-wedgie machine stands, signs of dust and decay every where about it yet it stands spotless, oviously frequently cleaned, powercells showing recent manufacturing dates, and a sent of lemon pledge hangs in the air. Roaming outside are giant pink bears wearing t-shirts that read "I dont care" splattered with assorted colors of blood and ummm, well on to the port city capital of Kravchickia, there are white fluffy bunnies ready to greet travels, sell them wears, and arrange for a pleasant nights stay, while warning all not to travel the woods at night for the dreaded leathal lemmings may, ummmm, well onto out scenic tour of Exotera......
