Scientists Safe (Sort Of) by Ricky "Scoop" Dorsten
A CBI recruitment session was (yet again) interrupted by an urgent call from CBI HQ to rescue several scientists.
Several months ago, a team of archaeologists, working in the caves on the Trasa/Caeorovia Road unearthed a large metal-and-stone ring. After several attempts to get it working....it worked, opening a portal to another place. A recon probe was sent through, determining that the other side was inhabitable by humans and other air-breathers.
A team of Knowledge Society scientists went through the portal to investigate the area.
The scientists did not return within their 24 hour time-limit. Several rescue teams were sent into the portal, only to fail in their attempts to locate the scientists.
The new recruits (their names were not disclosed by the CBI, citing need-to-know information) were led by veteran Mad Dog Team member Tris Wilkinson through the portal in a last-ditch attempt to locate the missing crew.
This reporter was barred from entering the caves containing the object and can only guess what transpired.
Here are the facts:
1. Six missing scientists.
2. Search teams failed.
3. Final team went through the portal.
4. Three scientists and four CBI agents returned.
5. Two of the scientists kept babbling about teddy bears and green socks.
6. One scientist died of a heart attack on the way to the Hospital.
7. The new CBI agents are unknown at this time.
This reporter investigated the caves after the CBI cleared the area, but could find only scorched earth and rubble in one passageway of the tunnel. No sign of the portal was found.
Is the CBI up to its old tricks of disinformation and misinformation? I certainly hope not.

//NOTE: The reason the new recruits were not disclosed is because I forgot to write down who they were. Just pm me and I'll add you to the CBI Roster.
